Administration

Welcome to Arizona Middle School!  I am very excited to enter my 6th year as the Principal at this great school.  I look forward to working with each member of our community to ensure that our students have a great experience and that they are prepared for high school, college, and a career.  Prior to this, I served as the Assistant Principal at Arizona Middle School for 3 years, and have been in education for 18 years as a teacher and administrator in both the middle school and high school levels.

Arizona Middle School is committed to implementing an equitable and rigorous curriculum to ensure that “We create a Culture of Caring within our school community and prepare all students to be College and Career Ready!”  Additionally, Arizona Middle School has been recognized as a Gold PBIS School, that focuses on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to create a positive school culture in which academic success and appropriate behaviors are the standard.  Our PBIS Expectations are that Arizona Apaches are Leaders!  “Apaches LEAD”: Leadership, Excellence, Accountability, and Determination.  Arizona Middle School has also received certification for eight consecutive years as an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) School-wide Site of Distinction and an AVID National Demonstration School.  These two AVID certifications represent the Highest Levels of AVID Implementation and demonstrates excellence in instructional practice and the promotion of College Readiness School-Wide.

We are committed to assuring that every student is prepared with a world-class education that will support lifelong success. Beyond our core academic programs of English, Math, Science, History, and Physical Education, we support lifelong success through courses in AVID, Robotics/3D Graphic Design, Band, Choir, and College and Career Ready STEM Labs. Similarly, our co-curricular programs (ASB, clubs, and Prime-Time/Extended Learning) provide students with challenging activities where each child can reach her/his fullest potential.

At Arizona Middle School, we are a caring community that emphasizes support for all of our students. Students have access to two full-time school counselors, one part-time school counselor, a part-time Wylie Center community outreach counselor, a School Psychologist, a School Speech Pathologist, and support programs to assist students in meeting their academic, social, and emotional needs. Parents have input in school programs through the School Site Council, PTO, and the English Learners Advisory Committee.  Our Arizona community works together to create a learning environment that has high expectations, promotes students' academic and social development, teaches responsibility and pride, and supports our students in developing their abilities to be lifelong learners.

I look forward to meeting each member of our community and working collaboratively to make this a great year!
