Arizona Family Picnic!

• Bring your child's favorite lunch and come enjoy lunch with them!  All Parents and Family are Welcome! 

**Parents and Visitors MUST bring an I.D. to enter campus. **Plan to arrive 20 minutes before your child's lunch to check-in.

 

 

 

Loteria Night! Tuesday, Oct. 27^th: 4pm-6pm – Arizona MPR

• Come join us for a FREE evening of fun, family, and community! Enjoy Lotería games, prizes, music, a special Ballet Folklórico performance, and more. Food will also be available for purchase from our PTO.
• Come enjoy: Music, Ballet Folklorico Performance, Loteria Games, Altar showcase, Costume Contest, Prizez, Food, Fun with our school community and more!
• We hope you and your family can join us for this special evening!

Halloween Dress Up Day: Friday, October 30^th   

• All Costumes must follow school appropriateness guidelines. Costumes may not have fake blood, no full masks, no props, no inflatable costumes, and no fake weapons.

 

 

 

Attendance Competition!

• This October and November we would like to focus on having each student at school every single day! 
• Data has shown that students that are at school every day, get better grades and are far less likely to fall behind academically. 
• This month let’s strive to have Perfect Attendance! 
• During October and November, the classes will compete to see which class has the best attendance; and the winning classes when will receive ice cream parties.

 

 

 

Short-Term Independent Study

• If you know in advance that your child will be absent for two or more days, please call our attendance office so we can place them on a Short Term Independent Studies contract.
• This Contract allows your child’s absences to be cleared so they do not count against their attendance.  Your child would just need to complete any assignments they missed while they were absent.

 

 

 

 

Requirements to Attend: Movie Parties, Dances, or Fieldtrips:

• To attend a Movie Party, Dance, or Field Trip Students may not have any major discipline infractions & MUST have  2.0 (“C”) grade point average & No F’s. Tickets will be sold to all students, however if they do not meet the above requirements, they will be issued a refund.

 

 

 

Practice PSAT (7^th & 8^th Grade Students Only)

Arizona Middle School is an AVID National Demonstration School and Site of Distinction School.  AVID is a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college. This year, students will be taking the Practice PSAT (Middle School Version) sometime between Oct. 27^th through Nov. 6^th in their history class. The Practice PSAT takes 45 minutes to complete and will be completed during one History class period. **This Practice PSAT (Middle School Version) will not count towards your child’s grade, however it will give students an opportunity to view the types of questions they will see at the end of the year state testing.

• Arizona Middle School has been Recognized as an AVID National Demonstration School for serving as a model of academic excellence and college readiness and for exhibiting top-tier implementation of the AVID College Readiness System.

• Arizona Middle School has been Recognized by the state as PLATINUM PBIS School for having outstanding student behavior and for being committed to creating an environment of success for all students. We want to promote- a positive, safe, and consistent environment for all students by explicitly teaching behavioral expectations, regularly recognizing positive behavior, and providing support.

*City of Riverside Traffic Safety and Parking Enforcement

• The City of Riverside is working with all Riverside Schools to improve Traffic Safety around Schools.
• Riverside Polic Department will be monitoring the school areas and issuing traffic and parking violations.

• For the safety of all students/parents: Please drive slowly & safely, and constantly look in all directions for students.
• Please plan accordingly by proceeding to school early when dropping off students so they arrive on campus before 8:15am.  Additionally, please allow extra time when heading to school for student Pick-Up.

• Campus Opens at 7:55am; Please do NOT drop-off your child before 7:45am.
  • Students eating breakfast will enter campus at 7:55am and proceed to the MPR for breakfast.

• We recommend that students get picked up at Arizona Middle School
• *We do not recommend having your students walk to Starbucks or to the Ralphs Parking Lot to get picked up.
• Please be careful to not block driveways when waiting to pick-up your child.
• There is NO parking and/or No waiting on La Sierra and No Parking and/or No waiting in/near the neighborhood off La Sierra.

 

 

 

PE Clothes: $13 for PE Shirt & $13 for PE Shorts

-  In-Person PE Clothes Purchases: PE Clothes will be available for purchase in-person (With Cash) at the Arizona Main Office starting on August 3rd.

District Policy: No DoorDash or Uber Eats Deliveries

• For the safety and security of all students, schools are not permitted to accept DoorDash, Uber Eats, or other food delivery orders on campus. Any deliveries sent to the school will be refused and returned to the delivery driver.
  • Only parents/guardians or adults listed on a student’s emergency contact list may drop off items for the student. 
  • When dropping off an item, please present a valid photo ID to the Main Office so staff can verify that you are authorized to do so.

 

 

Helmet & Bike/Scooter Safety Rules

California law requires all students under 18 to wear a properly fitted and secured, approved helmet when riding a bicycle, e-bike, scooter, electric scooter, or skateboard. This includes riding on public streets, bikeways, bicycle paths, and trails. (California Vehicle Code §21212)

School Rules:

• Students may not ride bikes, scooters, e-scooters, or skateboards anywhere on school property, including parking lots.
• Students bringing a bike, scooter, or skateboard to school must enter through the main entrance near the Main Office. Do not enter through the parking lot.
• Students must have a helmet with them when bringing a bike, scooter, e-bike, or e-scooter to school.
• Students without a helmet will need to leave the bike/scooter on campus until a parent picks it up or a helmet is provided so the student can safely ride home.
• Students who repeatedly fail to follow these rules may no longer be allowed to bring a bike, scooter, or skateboard to school.

Please remind your student to always wear a helmet and follow these safety rules.

 

 

 

School Meals Are Free!

• All Alvord Unified students can enjoy free breakfast and lunch throughout the 2026-2027 school year. Eligible after-school programs also offer free suppers.
• School meals are planned to meet federal nutrition standards and provide students with the fuel they need to learn and succeed.
