Back-To-School Night: Tuesday, August 18th from 5:00pm-7:00pm
- We will have a General Meeting at 5:00pm in the MPR, and then parents will have the opportunity to meet with each of your child’s teachers in their classrooms from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Please Click Here for more information on Back-To-School Night and to See the Schedule.
Picture Day: Thursday, August 20th
- During your child’s PE classes, students will take their Pictures for Yearbook and for their Student ID Cards.

Emergency Drill – Intruder On Campus Video and Drill – Friday, August 21st
- On Friday, August 21st the students, faculty, and staff at Arizona will watch an Intruder Response Preparedness Video and then conduct an Intruder Response Drill. This video and procedures are reviewed with students at least two times per year. This video and procedures were also reviewed with the students last year. The intent of the video and drill is to prepare the Arizona Community in the unlikely event an Intruder/active shooter comes on campus.
- The video was created by Arizona administrators, faculty, and students using information and procedures gathered from Homeland Security, the FBI, the Riverside Police Department, and Universities/High Schools across the country.

Middle School Sports – Soccer
Please register your child ASAP if you would like them to participate in Girls and Boys Soccer.

- Practice Dates/Times
- Starting August 17th, Boys Practice will be held every Monday and Thursday from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm at Arizona Middle School.
- Starting August 17th, Girls Practice will be held every Monday and Wednesday from 3:00pm to 4:30pm at Arizona Middle School.
- Students will be provided a snack once they check-in with their coaches in the MPR.
- Please note that students need to be picked up no later than 4:40 pm after their practice is over (if they are not walking home).
In-N-Out Fundraiser
- The In-N-Out Truck is Coming to Arizona Middle School!!
- Due to the limited amount of tickets, this will be a Student Only Event!
- Event Date: Tuesday, Sept. 22nd at 1:40pm
- Tickets are $8.00 (Includes One Cheeseburger, Drink, & Chips.
- Tickets will go on sale for students only next week
- Last Day to purchase tickets is August 28th

**Parents and Visitors MUST bring an I.D. to enter campus. **Plan to arrive 20 minutes before your child's lunch to check-in.
*After each lunch, we will also have an Optional Parent Meeting with the Counselors. At the meeting, you will be able to meet the counselors and get some important information about how to support your child while in Middle School.
Join Arizona’s School Site Council (SSC)
- SSC is a group of parents, students, teachers, and staff members that meet once a month to analyze academic achievement at Arizona Middle School, and also develop, approve and monitor our school plan towards meeting our school goals and oversees the schools federal funds. School Site Council meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 3:30pm.
- Those elected by ballot serve a 1 year term and would need to rerun each year. We are in need of 3 parents to join.

- For the safety of all students/parents: Please drive slowly & safely, and constantly look in all directions for students.
- During the 1st couple weeks, please prepare for delays as everyone figures out the drop-off/pick-up routines.
- Please plan accordingly by proceeding to school early when dropping off students so they arrive on campus before 8:15am. Additionally, please allow extra time when heading to school for student Pick-Up.

- Students eating breakfast will enter campus at 7:55am and proceed to the MPR for breakfast.

- We recommend that students get picked up at Arizona Middle School
- *We do not recommend having your students walk to Starbucks or to the Ralphs Parking Lot to get picked up.
- Please be careful to not block driveways when waiting to pick-up your child.
- There is NO parking and/or No waiting on La Sierra and No Parking and/or No waiting in/near the neighborhood off La Sierra.

- Please do not worry about sizing. Students will select the appropriate sizes when PE Clothes are handed out during the 2nd week of school.
District Policy: No DoorDash or Uber Eats Deliveries
- For the safety and security of all students, schools are not permitted to accept DoorDash, Uber Eats, or other food delivery orders on campus. Any deliveries sent to the school will be refused and returned to the delivery driver.
- Only parents/guardians or adults listed on a student’s emergency contact list may drop off items for the student.
- When dropping off an item, please present a valid photo ID to the Main Office so staff can verify that you are authorized to do so.
Helmet & Bike/Scooter Safety Rules
California law requires all students under 18 to wear a properly fitted and secured, approved helmet when riding a bicycle, e-bike, scooter, electric scooter, or skateboard. This includes riding on public streets, bikeways, bicycle paths, and trails. (California Vehicle Code §21212)
School Rules:
- Students may not ride bikes, scooters, e-scooters, or skateboards anywhere on school property, including parking lots.
- Students bringing a bike, scooter, or skateboard to school must enter through the main entrance near the Main Office. Do not enter through the parking lot.
- Students must have a helmet with them when bringing a bike, scooter, e-bike, or e-scooter to school.
- Students without a helmet will need to leave the bike/scooter on campus until a parent picks it up or a helmet is provided so the student can safely ride home.
- Students who repeatedly fail to follow these rules may no longer be allowed to bring a bike, scooter, or skateboard to school.
Please remind your student to always wear a helmet and follow these safety rules.
School Meals Are Free!
- All Alvord Unified students can enjoy free breakfast and lunch throughout the 2026-2027 school year. Eligible after-school programs also offer free suppers.
- School meals are planned to meet federal nutrition standards and provide students with the fuel they need to learn and succeed.
